Jonathan Scott is a pro at rehabilitating houses, but the Property Brothers designer says he had to rehab his own life after a devastating divorce left him heartbroken in 2009.
“Being married was a huge part of my life,” Scott, 39, explains. “I spent six-and-a-half years with someone, and it didn’t work. Anyone in a long-term relationship knows how hard that is.”
Still, the HGTV star says the experience helped him grow – and eventually find new love Jacinta Kuznetsov, 29.
“After that I felt defeated, but I learned a lot,” he explains. “I don’t think I could enjoy what I have today with Jacinta if I hadn’t gone through a failed marriage.”
